From BA to Azul

Friday 3 and Saturday, February 4, 2012
At 10.00 we leave the driveway driving at Dakar Motors, waved by Sandra, Julian and Javier Franco and Yoshi. We avoid the busy R3 and take the road south / west direction Pilar to leave the city.If you have the Antwerp ring as standard, the traffic in BA a Sunday outing. Even on a Friday morning. Where we longed for so long, becomes reality. We drive for hundreds of miles straight, with no lights, villages or whatever. The landscape is monotonous and not very pretty, but just ride, ride, ride makes us happy. Johan and I are not "counters" but it's nice to know that on this first real excursion of the travel  I put 30,000 kilometers on the clock.All we get is a road stop sign at the side of the road "Paracadisimo the Lobos." The hangar is open 2 Cessna 205, and a few tandemrigs and studentrigs lie open and exposed, and there is no living soul in sight. Jumpprices are, 30 € and 20 € per jump equipment rental. We look around and then leave again.Around 6 hours we arrive in Azul, we've got an address "where it is good for motorcyclists." Johan plays perfect for GPS and without  asking he brings me to the door of "La Posta del Viajero en moto." A beautiful place, a sort of clubhouse where Pollo runs a mechanical shop / camping / hostel for motorcyclists on the road to and from Ushaia. In the evening there is the BBQ with friends, giving us a crash course in Latin American Spanish.On Saturday we sleep late, Pollo arrange a visit to the local firestation. Johan feast his eyes and we become aware again of the high standard of living in Europe. The ladder is from 1963! A team consists of 7 people (for a population of 80,000 inhabitants) and for each call, there is only 1 car goiing (3 firefighters). A month ago, Sergeant Santiago had to leave the best car of the corps in a forest fire. They do not worry, however, the corps will repair the car himself until it's ready for use again. An extensive photo album appears on the page.It looks unlikely that we may continue to drive tomorrow. Pollo is stunned when he hears our intention. On Sunday in Argentina are the friends and families together, then you want to leave?Okay, finally we have more time than money . Maybe Johan can ask already an extension of his sabattical year ? (Ok colleagues ..?)
